last saturday night i got a text message from my buddy john that he had finished working on wildcat. wildcat is a 1983 schwinn supersport that my dad used to ride in triathlons back in the day. well since i bought marin wildcat has kind of been neglected in the corner. not anymore. after a couple of weeks of discussion and planning and ordering parts, john was able to convert wildcat into a fixed gear track bike. i had been eyeing pistas at bbc for about a month and i figured i could convert wildcat for less money and use the frame that was just collecting dust in the corner. here is a picture.
since this photo i have taken off the rear brake. the front does all the work and the silhouette of the bike looks better without the brake on the back anyway.
i rode to work the other day over red mountain and did fine until the commute home. the side coming back is more difficult than the ride over.
i am sure fred and i will be riding around this weekend. if anyone wants to come out just drop me a line.
